There are only two main ingredients that you will need to start out soap making so it wouldn't be very hard to start out with your hobby/ business. You will just need some oil and lye and you will already be able to make your soap. First, start out by perfecting your technique before moving on to more advanced soaps.

The process of soap making is very easy and you won't need a lot of time to complete the entire process. First decide on what process of you will use in making soap. The cold process is recommended especially if you plan on selling your soaps as this will yield soaps with better quality.

The cold process is done by first by dissolving lye in water. Once the lye is fully dissolved, you may now pour in the oil f your choice. This will then undergo a process called saponification. You will need to continue mixing the mixture until it becomes homogenous. Once you have achieved this, you can now pour your mixture onto molds for your soap to take shape.

Upon pouring your soap into molds, you may now leave them with covers on as the saponification process is still continuing. This will continue to take place for about 1-2 more days. On the third day, you may now remove the covers and your soap may already be used. But in order to make your soap even harder, you may want to leave them for several weeks until they become really hard and have a fixed shape.

Once you have perfected your soap making skills, you may want to add a little variety to the soaps that you are making. You may opt to add coloring dyes, fragrance oils and other ingredients such as herbal extracts to give your soap a more appeal. You can also mix different kinds of oils to alter the basic properties of your soap.

In addition to just altering the innate properties of your soap, you may also want to do alter the outer appearance of your soap by using different molds to give shape to your soap. You may also learn how to sculpt soap using knives to give them a more personal design. This way, your soap will be more appealing to a lot of people.

Don't waste your free time at home and start taking up soap making as a hobby. This way, you make good use of your time and you can even make some extra money. This hobby is really fun to do and you won't even think that you are doing this to earn some money.
